1965 Fender Vibro Champ Pre-CBS Vintage Black Panel Tube Amp with Shipping Box

  
An absolute time capsule, this amp features its original tube set and tolex hangtag, presenting like-new and in perfect working order. This Vibro Champ has the model's introductory features including the Pre-CBS-era "Fender Electric Instrument" faceplate no-logo grill. This little Black Panel-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone.

A surprisingly loud amp with its Oxford-made alnico magnet 8 speaker, this Vibro Champ offers warm, dynamic cleans before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive as you turn up the Volume dial. Responsive to your picking dynamics, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it's hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender's lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop.

The circuit is 100% original save for a single resistor and capacitor, with Schumacher-made transformers that date to the 45th (output) and 39th (power) weeks of 1964, and visible codes on the Stackpole pots date to the 38th week of'64. The original tube complement includes matching RCA-made 6V6 power and 5Y3 rectifier tubes, and Tung Sol-made valves in the preamp The tube chart is flawless and bright white with an "OB" stamp which translates to February of 1965. The speaker is the stock 8EV Oxford-made 8 alnico speaker with a nigh flawless frame and original cone.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are flawless, and the like-new faceplate retains its witch hat knobs with gleaming chrome inserts. All hardware is uniformly pristine. The box is also serialized, matching the number on the chassis. The "Luxurious Tolex" hangtag is also present.
